To implement a large scale programme on diabetes and hypertension as part of the Ethiopia MoH national NCD response
Under the auspices and lead of the Ethiopia Federal MoH (the MoH) and through technical partnership between MoH and its regional offices across Ethiopia, the Ethiopia Diabetes Association (EDA) and its branch offices across Ethiopia, and, the Italian NGO ‘CUAMM Doctors with Africa’ (CUAMM) with decades-long partnership with the Ethiopia MoH, the programme will represent a first stage larger scale roll-out of the national NCD response.Five out of 11 districts of Ethiopia will be reached and provided capacity building at regional and district hospital level including training of health care professionals and provision of diagnostic equipments, and also improved patient registries. The areas targeted will represent different ethnic groups and socio-economic contexts, also with emphasis on outreach and awareness raising through capacity building of community health workers. These latter components will also be implemented through strengthening of the EDA branch offices.
