Objective
The aim of the project was to conduct a diabetes symposium and workshop in Alexandria, Egypt in order to increase awareness in Europe and the developing world of the burden of diabetes in developing countries.
Expected impact
- 250 public and political stakeholders from Europe and developing countries to participate in a 3-days diabetes symposium and workshop.
- Prepare a strategy for helping health authorities fight diabetes in developing countries.
- Increase awareness on the diabetes situation in developing countries in Europe and the developing world.
Project results
- More than 300 public and political stakeholders from Europe and developing countries have participated in a 3-days diabetes symposium and workshop.
- A strategy for helping health authorities fight diabetes in developing countries was prepared as part of the symposium.
- Press releases has been released and meetings organised for EU-Parliamentarians on the lack of focus on collaboration with the developing world in the 7th Framework Programme.
