Objective

The aim of the project is to improve prevention and management of diabetes by raising public awareness and training health workers in two rural areas of Indonesia.

Expected impact

• 1,560 social workers trained in providing diabetes education to people with diabetes and to the local communities
• 210 health workers trained in prevention, detection and treatment of diabetes
• 26 information posts established in every district of the two target areas 

Results to date as of June 2006

• 240 social educators and 30 health workers have been trained
• 600 pieces of Diabetes Mellitus Gymnastics VCDs have been produced, so far 300 have been distributed
