A Change in the WDF Management

From the 1. April 2006 we will witness a change in the WDF Management.

Dr Anil Kapur the current Vice Chairman has agreed to move to Denmark and take over as Managing Director of the Foundation from Mr Leif Fenger Jensen who has taken up another assignment and moved to Greece. Mr Jensen will join the WDF board of directors as the Vice Chairman. This switch in roles will ensure continuity in the leadership of the Foundation that has been responsible for the initial success.

Mr Leif Fenger Jensens contribution for the Foundation

Mr Leif Fenger Jensen has been with WDF since its establishment and inauguration early 2002 as the Managing Director. Before joining WDF, Mr Jensen worked at Novo Nordisk for more than 10 years where he held several managerial positions. Between 1996 and 2001 Mr. Jensen worked as Regional Finance & HR Director in the Asia Pacific Centre located in Singapore. Mr Jensen has presently been appointed as Director of Strategic Operations at the Novo Nordisk Office in Greece.

Dr Ramaiya has been the catalyst force and project responsible behind many WDF funded projects in Tanzania. The WDF Secretariat welcomes Dr Ramaiya as member of the board of directors.

Dr Anil Kapur, Managing Director of the WDF

Dr Anil Kapur has a background in Novo Nordisk India initially as General Manger India, subsequently as Vice President International operations responsible for the India Region and lately as the Vice President, Stakeholder Relations Asia. He initiated the development of several programmes and public awareness campaigns in diabetes as part of the Novo Nordisk Education Foundation which help establish and run as its managing trustee till a few years back and has presented numerous lectures on diabetes, in India and around the globe.

He is also author of more than ninety papers in the areas of Internal Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology and Endocrinology and he is also a regular contributor to diabetes magazines. Further more Dr Kapur has co-ordinated two large-scale studies and has helped to establish many promising projects in India. The WDF Secretariat welcomes him as our Managing Director, knowing that we have found a worthy and excellent replacement for Mr Jensen.

“In the last four years the Foundation has learnt to stand up and walk and its work is now being noticed and recognised. It is time to enter a new phase where we need to consolidate the learning of what works and what does not. We need to build on this to be more proactive in our approach and create networks amongst our project partners to multiply successful initiatives in a cost effective way. To some extent this has already started with the first WDF Diabetes Summit in Vietnam”, says Dr Anil Kapur while reflecting on his priorities.
