The Western Pacific Region (including China) and the South East Asian Region (including India) have the greatest number of people with diabetes in the world
About 2-2.5 million Vietnamese people, or 2.4-3.% of Vietnam´s population now suffer from diabetes
In India the number of people with diabetes was an estimated 19.3 million in 1995. This is projected to rise to 57.2 million by 2025. The total number of people with diabetes in China is currently estimated to be over 30 million and growing
The current number of people with diabetes in the Western Pacific region is estimated to be 43 million and this number will increase to at least 76 million by the year 2025
