Objective
The project seeks to improve the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of diabetes care and thereby reduce the burden of diabetes complications in Samoa and Vanuatu.
Expected impact
- The project is expected to benefit at least 50 % of all people with known diabetes in Samoa and at least 30 % of all people with known diabetes in Vanuatu through improved diabetes care
- At least 70 % of all health care providers in Samoa and 50 % in Vanuatu will benefit through training, improved standards and guidelines and access to continuing professional education and support
Project closed
The project was prematurely closed in November 2005, and a new project, WDF 06-176, is taking over the efforts to reduce diabetes complications in the Pacific islands. WDF06-176 targets Nauru and Vanuatu instead of Samoa and Vanuatu.
