The project seeks to improve the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of diabetes care and thereby reduce the burden of diabetes complications in Samoa and Vanuatu.
Expected impact
The project is expected to benefit at least 50 % of all people with known diabetes in Samoa and at least 30 % of all people with known diabetes in Vanuatu through improved diabetes care
At least 70 % of all health care providers in Samoa and 50 % in Vanuatu will benefit through training, improved standards and guidelines and access to continuing professional education and support
Project closed
The project was prematurely closed in November 2005, and a new project, WDF 06-176, is taking over the efforts to reduce diabetes complications in the Pacific islands. WDF06-176 targets Nauru and Vanuatu instead of Samoa and Vanuatu.
