Objective
The objective of this project is to provide treatment and raise awareness about diabetes and diabetic retinopathy among rural communities.
Expected impact
- 2 mobile eye clinics established and equipped
- 600 health care personnel trained
- A number of community health volunteers trained
- Between 8,000 and 12,000 diabetes patients with diabetic retinopathy will receive free laser treatment
Results to date
- 2 mobile eye clinics have been established and equipped.
- 350 health care providers have been trained at Pisanuloke and Khonkan Hospitals.
- More than 1,000 technicians / community nurses have been trained.
- 150 ophthalmologists have attended a retinal workshop at the Royal Collage of Ophthalmologists.
- 762 people have received free laser treatment in the mobile units.
