Outdoor activities
If you are near a park, wood, hillside, or even a quiet part of town, why not invite people in small groups for a session "on the move"? You can learn about nature, geography, history, the environment etc.
Preparation
Map the route Consider safety issues & think about the weather Arrange transport if necessary. Prepare talks about the things to see along the way along the track. Perhaps a local expert could act as a guide. Consider an activity like collecting leaves, nuts, or other objects for a school project. You may like to have lunch while you are out. Suggest healthy lunches, snacks and drinks, avoid fast food, ice cream, soft drinks and sweets. Register your walk on the Global Diabetes Walk website www.globaldiabeteswalk.net
On the day
Remind everyone why we are doing the Global Diabetes Walk. Explain about diabetes and how to lead a healthy lifestyle. Remember that you are not alone - thousands of others around the world will be walking with you. Remember to update the website with your photos and results. Have fun!
