The stunning photos that are used on this website and in most of our printed materials are done by the Danish photographer Jesper Westley.
He has donated a lot of time to do pro bono work for the World Diabetes Foundation helping us document the dreadful conditions that most people with diabetes are living under in the developing countries.
"I never thought much of diabetes until I started photographing people from around the world with the disease. The experiences have opened my eyes to the devastation diabetes and its complications cause. Nowhere have these cases been more profound than in some of the world’s poorest regions, where lack of resources are compounded by misperceptions, superstitions, lack of information, lack of treatment and, in some cases, even wrong treatment.
I work with the World Diabetes Foundation because I want to contribute to their cause of “supporting the prevention and treatment of diabetes” in the world’s poorest countries by documenting the truth of the disease"
