Natland, Cumbria

Lesley Capstick from St Mark's school, Natland sends this picture of all the school forming a blue circle to signify the "Unite for Diabetes" symbol. It appeared in the local paper the Westmoreland Gazette.  ‘The Gazette’ said "That the pupils walked a special course around the playground and joined in a global campaign to highlight the effect of this potentially debilitating illness…….and that it was part of the first ever United Nations observed Diabetes Day".

The headmaster was really pleased that we had such great coverage. The Monday before the walk  Lesley Capstick had given a presentation on ‘Diabetes made simple’ in assembly, the pupils had been really excited about taking part in the walk

179 pupils and staff took part, and they are all keen to take part next year, he reports.
