Results to date
39,982 people have been screened for diabetes. Of these 7,142 had diabetes (6,860 were known cases; 282 were new cases), leading to a total prevalence rate of 17.9%
Of those screened for diabetes 1,760 had diabetic retinopathy (311 were known cases; 1,449 were new cases), leading to a 20.3% prevalence rate among those diagnosed with diabetes and a 4.4% prevalence rate among the total number of people screened.
754 people have received free laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy.
342 community screening camps have been conducted and 23 screening camps for diabetic retinopathy.
120 awareness programmes have been held for social groups and 13 awareness programmes have been conducted for general practitioners and physicians.
103 ophthalmic assistants have been trained in diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy.
263 nurses have been trained in diabetes awareness.
