A picture of sugar and blood
We welcome you to use the World Diabetes Foundation logo in our common activities.
The logo of the World Diabetes Foundation is a drop of blood partly including a sugar cube, illustrating diabetes as a condition with sugar in the blood. Diabetes is characterized by the afflicted being partly or totally unable to effectively use the sugar from the food, caused by a lack of insulin in the body and the sugar necessary to feed muscles and brain.
In many countries the lay expression for suffering from for diabetes is “having sugar in the blood”.

The logo was designed by Danish graphic designer Morten Agergaard: "In my work with the logo and identity of the World Diabetes Foundation I had two recipients in mind; the western world and the developing world. After having designed the blood drop for the World Diabetes Foundation, I was very pleased when a couple of months ago I saw how a local printer in India had hand copied it for a local poster. The blood drop actually works as a logo for the World Diabetes Foundation in real life, not just on the computer screen but also hand copied on a wall in Tamil Nadu. I am proud of that".
