Mr Lars Rebien Sørensen

President and chief executive officer (CEO)

Lars Rebien Sørensen joined Novo Nordisk’s Enzymes Marketing in 1982. Over the years, he has been stationed in several countries, including the Middle East and the US. Mr Sørensen was appointed member of Corporate Management in May 1994 and given special responsibility within Corporate Management for Health Care in December 1994. He was appointed president and CEO in November 2000.

Mr Sørensen is a member of the Board of ZymoGenetics, Inc, US, and DONG Energy A/S, Denmark, as well as a member of the Bertelsmann AG Supervisory Board, Germany. Mr Sørensen received the French award Chevalier de l'Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur in 2005.

Mr Sørensen has an MSc in Forestry from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University (now University of Copenhagen), Denmark, from 1981, and a BSc in International Economics from the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, in 1983. Since October 2007, Mr Sørensen has been adjunct professor at the Life Sciences Faculty of the University of Copenhagen.

Mr Sørensen is a Danish national, born on 10 October 1954.
